The European League of Institutes of the Arts

The European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) is the continent’s largest body for higher arts students across all disciplines, with over 300 members in 47 countries. ELIA launched the 5-day NEU NOW festival in order to stimulate innovation and creativity among beginning artists. The festival supports Europe’s emerging artists by showcasing the work of those advancing from art academies towards their professional careers, and by providing them with a framework for professional development that fosters collaboration and business opportunities.

Novel provided strategic support for the eighth edition of NEU NOW, taking place in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, 14 – 18 September 2016. For the festival, Novel worked with ELIA on formulating a coherent and actionable strategy for all fundraising activities, with a secondary focus on establishing culturally relevant partnerships. The strategy aimed at harnessing the latent fundraising potential of the festival and its network by gathering all the stakeholders and formulating a well-considered and appealing format for involvement. Additionally, Novel acted as a liaison between ELIA and Novel’s cultural network, introducing new partners for NEU NOW.

Novel has developed up-to-date formats for the friends programme and partnerships of NEU NOW. Based on case studies, best practices and mapping of the latent potential in the ELIA network, strategic goals and actionable formats were developed. Novel provided creative direction on the development and copy of the products, so they will hit their mark. The friends programme and partnerships are currently being implemented, based on the strategy Novel developed.
